The shock of relegation was too much. Fans of both Leicester City and Leeds United have expressed their anger.
Leicester failed to avoid relegation Leicester defeated West Ham United 2-1 in the 38th (and final) round of the 2022-23 English Premier League (EPL) season at the King Power Stadium in Leicester, England, at 0:30 a.m. ET on Sept. 29. However, Everton failed to stay up as they beat Bournemouth at the same time.
Seven years after winning the EPL, they tasted relegation.스포츠토토 Leicester’s poor signings this season, the failure to replace Casper Schmeichel in leadership, and Brendan Rodgers’ tactical limitations all contributed to the club’s relegation to the second tier. So much for their miraculous 2015-16 EPL title run.
Leeds have also been relegated to the English Championship. Leeds lost 1-4 to Tottenham Hotspur in the final match of the 2022-23 EPL season at 0:30 a.m. on April 29 at Elland Road in Leeds, England.
It was an ugly final game. Leeds changed managers twice this season and never rebounded, finishing 19th. Sam Allardyce, the ‘stay-at-home’ manager who was appointed with four league games to go, had his reputation tarnished by a dismal record of one point from four games.
Fans were equally devastated, with many supporters caught on camera in tears and clutching their heads. Some fans took their anger out on the wrong foot.
Leicester fans engaged in ‘self-defense’. Two Leicester fans got into a verbal altercation that turned into a fistfight. The disturbance was quickly broken up by the surrounding fans. It shows that the pain of relegation is too much to bear to turn violent against someone who supports the same team.
Leeds fans raised the bar even higher. They attacked police officers after their relegation was confirmed. Angry Leeds fans crossed the pitch and threatened police officers who tried to restrain them. One officer even lost his footing and fell to the ground while trying to stop the fans.
Of course, it’s unacceptable to see your favorite team drop to the second tier, but taking it out on others in the form of violence is completely unacceptable in the world of soccer.
