Park Ji-won (27, Seoul City Hall), who emerged as the new ace of men’s short track speed skating, added a gold medal at the 6th World Cup of the International Skating Union (ISU).

Park Ji-won crossed the finish line first with a time of 2:17:200 in the men’s 1500m final at the 6th event of the 2022-23 ISU Short Track World Cup held in Dordrecht, Netherlands on the 11th (local time).

With this, Park Ji-won won the 1500m 5 times this season, from the 1st and 3rd to 6th competitions. It is her eighth gold medal in the individual event at the World Cup, including three gold medals in the 1000m.

With the gold medal on the day, Park Ji-won accumulated 968 points for the season, further increasing her chances of taking first place in the World Cup rankings. In second place is his teammate Hong Gyeong-hwan (Goyang City Hall) with 634 points.

Following Park Ji-won, Lee Dong-hyeon (Uijeongbu Kwangdong High School) took the silver medal with a time of 2:17:310, and Jens Pant Baut (Netherlands) took the bronze medal with a time of 2:17:472.

Hong Kyung-hwan, who went to the final together, was in last place out of seven.

Shim Seok-hee 스포츠토토(Seoul City Hall), who reached the women’s 1500m final, recorded a time of 2:29.482, winning the bronze medal following Hannah Desmert (Belgium) and Susan Schulting (Netherlands).

Gilly Kim (Seongnam City Hall), who won two gold medals in the 1500m this season, finished only 5th, but she confirmed her first place in the 1500m rankings for the season.

Kim Tae-seong (Dankook University), who reached the men’s 1000m final, finished fourth with a time of 1:24:693, failing to win a medal unfortunately.

In the women’s 1000m, while Korean athletes did not make it to the final, Lee So-yeon (Sports Toto) finished second in Final B with a time of 1:31:960.

In the men’s 5000m relay, Park Ji-won, Lee Dong-hyeon, Lim Yong-jin, and Hong Kyung-hwan sortied, they advanced to the final by placing first in Group 2 of the semifinals.

On the other hand, the women’s 3000m relay, in which Sim Suk-hee, Kim Gil-li, Lee So-yeon and Kim Geon-hee teamed up, finished third in the second group of the semifinals and failed to make it to the final.

Meanwhile, Lin Xiaojun (Korean name Lim Hyo-jun), who won two gold medals in the last 5 competitions after being naturalized in China, failed to advance to the final by finishing fourth in group 1 of the men’s 1000m semifinals. In Final B, he scored first and finished in 6th place.
