The New York Mets are far from the postseason after spending the most money in franchise history. The man who started that misery, Edwin Diaz, 29, is back.
메이저사이트On Monday, Diaz threw bullpen pitches for the first time since suffering a knee injury on Aug. 28, The Athletic reported.
The team added that everything is going well with Diaz’s rehabilitation. Diaz had previously announced that he would return to the major league mound later this season.
Coming off a major injury, Diaz is pushing for a return this season to set the stage for the 2024 season. It’s a positive sign that he’s ready to go.

In March, Díaz pitched the final four games of Group D in the first round of the 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC) against the Dominican Republic, pitching a perfect game to preserve Puerto Rico’s victory.
However, during the post-game ceremonies, Diaz suffered a major injury: a torn patellar tendon in his right knee. Diaz was in a lot of pain.
Diaz underwent surgery and was out for the season. The surgery was successful. He was cleared to return for the 2024 season.
When healthy, Diaz is one of the best closers in the majors. In 62 innings pitched in 61 games last year, Diaz went 3-1 with 32 saves and a 1.31 ERA.
Now, Diaz will continue his rehabilitation and will be back on a major league mound in September. This is all for the 2024 season.
