The 104th National Winter Sports Festival, a national winter sportsperson’s grand festival, opened on the 17th in Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do. The Busan team got off to a good start, winning three gold medals on the first day alone.
The Busan team won 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 9 bronze medals on the first day of the National Winter Games held in Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do on the 17th. By event, 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 5 bronze medals were issued in ski alpine, and 1 gold, silver, and bronze medals were produced in cross country. In ice figure skating and snowboarding, they won 1 silver medal, 1 bronze medal, and 2 bronze medals, respectively.
The Busan team won 4 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 12 bronze medals as of the 17th, including the results before the opening of the tournament. The Busan team secured a total of 222 points and is ranked 7th overall. The first place is occupied by Gyeonggi, followed by Seoul and Gangwon in second and third places.
In Ski Alpine, Busan Winter Sports Representative Kang Yeong-seo (25, Busan City Sports Association) won two gold medals on the 17th and became the first team in Busan to win multiple gold medals. On the 17th, Kang Young-seo won the gold medal in the slalom and combined event in the alpine women’s general skiing held at Yongpyong Resort in Gangwon-do. Kang Young-seo previously won the gold medal in the super giant slalom held on the 15th, winning her three gold medals. The Busan team also won medals in the snowboard event. Park Min-gun (12) and Park Chae-hee (12) from Jangrim Elementary School competed in the men’s and women’s under-13 freestyle halfpipe competitions and won bronze medals side by side.
