Suwon’s unbeaten run in July was halted by a 0-2 defeat in the Suwon derby against Suwon FC after the international break. Suwon are 11th (D4 W6 D15 L18), five points adrift of 10th-placed Suwon FC (D23).

Coach Kim Byung-soo commented on the loss, saying, “I’m a little disappointed, but I tried to shake it off quickly. We tried to shake it off and start again.”

When asked about the changes in the line-up compared to the previous matches, Kim said, “Firstly, we considered the injuries and physical condition, and secondly, we wanted to prepare for their fast attackers. We also tried to change the way we attack.”

When asked about the changes in the defence compared to the last match against Suwon FC, Kim said, “Defence is a team effort. It’s basic that we have to move as a unit. We have prepared for that, and then we have to fight when the long ball comes. I don’t think we’re particularly scared of it and have to do anything differently.”

It’s not a normal situation for the Suwon squad, including Boultuis, Mullich and Ahn Byung-jun, who were excluded from the roster. Acosti and Kim Kyung-joong are also not at full fitness and will prepare from the bench.

“It’s one of the difficulties we face,” said Kim. Basically, players who can play 90 minutes have to start, and the same goes for the bench. That’s one of the things I’m disappointed about right now. But I think we’ll be fine if we distribute the time well.”
