Max Scherzer (39, Texas Rangers), who won by decision in the starting matchup with Ryu Hyun-jin (36, Toronto Blue Jays), will not be able to take the mound for the remainder of the season.

According to MLB.com, Texas General Manager Chris Young said on the 14th (Korean time), “This is bad news. Scherzer will not pitch in the remaining games of the season due to a sprain of the teres major in his right arm.”

Scherzer had a starting match with Ryu Hyun-jin the previous day (13th). He blocked well against the Toronto batting line. But then a sudden injury occurred. Scherzer, who took the mound in the 6th inning, did well to block the first batter, George Springer, with a grounder to second base. I felt something wrong with my body when I faced the next batter, Beau Bichet. He was seen throwing the first pitch and made the catch on the bench. Manager Bruce Bochy, pitching coach Mike Maddux, and trainer went to the mound to check his condition. After a brief conversation, Scherzer did a windup to throw a practice pitch, but was unable to throw the ball. He said it was impossible for him to pitch in person. In the end, Scherzer came off the mound after 5⅓ innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts, and no runs.

Afterwards, I underwent a test, and the result was a Daewongun sprain.

Scherzer signed a three-year, $130 million free agent contract with the New York Mets ahead of the 2022 season, but transferred to Texas ahead of this year’s trade deadline. With this trade, Scherzer gave up his right to veto the trade, and the Mets agreed to pay Scherzer’s remaining annual salary excluding $22.5 million.

메이저사이트The Mets, who formed the strongest one-two punch among Cy Young winners with Justin Verlander (Houston) and Scherzer last winter, began preparing for next season using trades as advancement to the postseason became unlikely, as they fell to 4th place in the Eastern Division.

Scherzer recorded 9 wins, 4 losses, and an ERA of 4.01 in 19 games with the Mets, and after moving to Texas, he recorded 4 wins, 2 losses, and an ERA of 3.20 in 8 games.

However, Texas can no longer utilize Scherzer. He brought in a big game pitcher and couldn’t use it. My headache hurts.

As it stands, the possibility of appearing in the postseason is slim. Director Young explained, “It is unlikely.”

However, it has been reported that Scherzer is not in need of surgery. He will continue to monitor the situation.

“In some ways, I’m relieved that it’s not a worse situation. I’m not having surgery, and the doctors say I’m expected to make a full recovery,” Scherzer said.

Meanwhile, the Texas starting rotation without Scherzer includes four players: Nathan Evoldi, Jordan Montgomery, John Gray, and Dane Dunning. MLB.com believes Texas will either fill Martin Perez or Andrew Heaney.
