Korean badminton’s signature Ahn Se-young (21‧ Samsung Life Insurance) advanced to the finals of the World Badminton Federation (BWF) Indonesia Masters.

World No. 2 Ahn Se-young beat China’s Wang Zhiyi (7th) 2-1 (21-9 10-21 21-16) in the women’s singles semifinal match held in Jakarta, Indonesia on the 28th (local time).

Ahn Se-young, who reached the top by defeating world number one Yamaguchi Akane (Japan) in the women’s singles final of the 2023 India Open Badminton Championships held in New Delhi, India on the 22nd, was only one step away from winning her two consecutive tournaments.

Ahn Se-young, who defeated Indonesia’s Purli Kusuma Wardani (44th) in the round of 16, defeated Thailand’s Ratchanok Inthanon (6th) in the quarterfinals, and then overcame Wang Zui to reach the final.

Ahn Se-young, who easily won the first set by 12 points, faced a crisis by losing the second set. However, she succeeded in advancing to the final after overcoming the 10-point notice in the third set and continuing to induce her opponent to make mistakes with her skillful performance.

With this, Ahn Se-young continued her recent nine-game winning streak since her India Open.

Ahn Se-young will compete with Spain’s Carolina Marin (9th) for the championship cup.
